IAB returns to the CasaPronta Criciúma Fair with a square in honor of architect Fernando Carneiro

Space will be dedicated to the memory of Criciúma's architecture and will have programming with professionals, entities and offices during the five days of the fair

The architecture that helped build Criciúma's identity will be highlighted at the next edition of the CasaPronta Criciúma Fair. Between the days 14 e 18 of October, the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB) – Núcleo Criciúma returns to the event with a special proposal: transform your space into a square dedicated to architect Fernando Carneiro, professional who left his mark in different parts of the city.

Among the works associated with Carneiro's career are the Nossa Senhora da Salete Church, in the Prospera neighborhood, the Bus Station, o Pregnant, the Criciúma Club, to Jarvis Gaidzinski's house, Congress Square and the commercial space that currently houses the Camelódromo. The tribute proposed by the IAB seeks to rescue this trajectory and bring the public closer to the history of local architecture.

The so-called Praça Fernando Carneiro will be a space for coexistence and exchange of knowledge throughout the five days of the fair. The program will bring together architects, offices, entities, professionals and institutions to discuss topics related to architecture, landscaping, construction, culture, market and development of cities.

“The idea is to create a living space within CasaPronta, where people can move, talk and learn a little more about the architecture that is part of the history of Criciúma. The tribute to Fernando Carneiro is also a way of valuing this memory and showing how architecture is directly linked to the construction of the city”, says the president of IAB Criciúma, Kelen Arigoni Cardoso.

The initiative will have the participation of the Criciúma Cultural Foundation, approaching architecture, culture and heritage. Participation by entities such as the Brazilian Association of Architecture Offices is also planned. (ASBEA) and Sinduscon, in addition to professionals and offices in the region. Among the guests is the architect Miguel Cañas Martins, from the office Metroquadrado Arquitetura, from Joinville. The program will also feature the participation of Anthea Arquitetura da Paisagem, bringing landscaping to discussions about open spaces and the relationship with nature.

The first day of the fair will have a moment especially dedicated to the honoree, with a conversation with Fernando Carneiro about his professional career and his contribution to architecture and to Criciúma.

For the director of NossaCasa Fairs and Events, Jacqueline Backes, organizer of CasaPronta, IAB's participation expands the space for dialogue proposed by the fair. “The event brings together different sectors linked to housing and construction, and having the IAB with us brings an important dimension to this meeting: the opportunity to look at architecture, for the history of our city and also for the future. The tribute to Fernando Carneiro makes this participation even more special”, highlights.

CasaPronta brings together different sectors in Criciúma

The 23rd CasaPronta Criciúma Fair will be held 14 a 18 October of 2026, at the José Ijair Conti Pavilion, in Criciúma (SC). The event brings together companies and professionals from the civil construction sectors, furniture and decoration, with business-oriented programming, knowledge, Trends and Innovation.

For five days, the event concentrates in one space solutions for different stages of residential and commercial projects, in addition to content programming and business opportunities.
