Excellent genetics places animals from the AgroPonte Fair among the highlights of national livestock farming
The AgroPonte Fair trials highlight one of the main assets of Brazilian livestock farming: herd genetics. In the days 13 e 14 August, the fair's judging arena once again brings together some of the best specimens of the Brahman and Nelore breeds in Brazil.
During the trials, an effective juror of the Brazilian Association of Zebu Breeders (ABCZ) evaluates technical criteria such as racial profiling, body structure, muscle development, functionality, precocity and morphological balance. Each evaluation seeks to identify the animals that best represent the breed standard and the advancement of genetic improvement developed on the properties.
According to the ABCZ jury, Roberto Vilhena Vieira, the high genetic standard presented on the tracks is the result of continuous work carried out by breeders. “The careful and constant work of genetic improvement of herds, combined with selection programs, allowed us to achieve animals with excellent conformation for meat production, weight gain, precocity and functionality for different regions and climates”, comment.
Brazil is today one of the world's main exporters of bovine genetics, providing live animals, semen and embryos to different countries. “The judgments value precisely these aspects, highlighting individuals who represent the best within each breed”, reinforces.
Champions arriving on the tracks at the AgroPonte Fair
Among the animals confirmed for this edition of the fair is MR 1065 FIV, from Cabanha Bez Batti, de Arnaldo Bez Batti. With just 27 months old, the Brahman breed already weighs around a ton and has accumulated achievements in previous trials.
“He has a very well developed hindquarters, a musculature that attracts attention and has already won first places in other exhibitions. It is a special animal and the public will be able to get to know it up close at the AgroPonte Fair”, says Arnaldo.
Another highlight will be the bull PVT115 Falcão, known nationally as Hercules, from Cabanha Talisman, from Içara. With about 1.420 Quilos, Hercules gained notoriety when he was recognized as the heaviest zebu in Latin America during Expointer. In addition to following the trials, visitors will be able to meet the animals in the exhibition spaces throughout the five days of the fair, closely observing characteristics that make Brazilian bovine genetics one of the most valued in the world.

The 15th AgroPonte Fair will be held 12 a 16 of August, at the José Ijair Conti Pavilion, in Criciúma.
