AgroPonte Fair brings together, for the first time, two products from Santa Catarina with Denomination of Origin

Honey Melato da Bracatinga and Vinhos dos Vales da Uva Goethe will be among the highlights of family farming in the 15th edition of the event

The 15th AgroPonte Fair will be the stage for an unprecedented meeting between two of the products with Denomination of Origin (DO) from Santa Catarina. Visitors will be able to see, at the same event, the Wines of the Goethe Grape Valleys, first Denomination of Origin for wines in the State, and Melato Honey from Bracatinga from the South-Brazilian Plateau, product recognized for its unique origin and sustainable production system.

The director of NossaCasa Fairs and Events, Jacqueline Backes, believes that the presence of the two products demonstrates the diversity of the fair and the strength of agribusiness in Santa Catarina. “With each edition we seek to make AgroPonte even more complete. We bring together producers, companies, technology, animals and also foods that represent the excellence of our State”, affirms.

Wines that make history

A ProGoethe – Goethe Grape and Wine Producers Association – will present during the AgroPonte Fair the new visual identity of Vales da Uva Goethe and the wines from the harvests 2025/2026 that obtained the Denomination of Origin seal, achievement obtained in June last year.

Recognition certifies that the wines have their own characteristics, result of the combination between terroir, the weather, the soil and the knowledge accumulated by generations of producers in the south of Santa Catarina. Before receiving the seal, the labels underwent sensory evaluations and physical-chemical analyzes that attested to their authenticity and quality.

“The achievement represents a milestone for winemaking in Santa Catarina, since Vales da Uva Goethe became the first Denomination of Origin for wines in Santa Catarina and the third in Brazil”, afirma Patrícia Mazon, president of ProGoethe.

A unique honey in the world

Another highlight of the fair will be Melato da Bracatinga Honey, taken by producers from Serra Catarinense, which will also present other products. Produced exclusively in the South-Brazilian Plateau region, This honey has characteristics that are not found anywhere else in the world.

Different from floral honeys, it is produced from the melate present in bracatinga trees, which gives it a dark color and properties that have made it a national reference. “It is our black gold from Serra Catarinense. It is the honey chosen seven times as the best in the world. Brazilians are discovering this product, and demand has grown a lot”, highlights producer Alex Buratto.

The Denomination of Origin recognizes precisely this relationship between the product, the territory and know-how of beekeepers in the region, in addition to valuing a production system associated with the conservation of the Araucaria Forest.

Fair starts on the day 12 of August

The 15th AgroPonte Fair will be held 12 a 16 of August, at the José Ijair Conti Pavilion, in Criciúma. Considered the largest agribusiness fair in Santa Catarina, The event brings together around 250 exhibiting companies, more of 300 animals, family agriculture, judgments of the Nelore and Brahman races, equestrian shows, Equine Therapy Arena and the new space A Cultura do Homem do Campo, dedicated to cultural events, to music and regional gastronomy.
