AgroPonte Fair brings producers and buyers face to face to close deals

Meeting brings together farmers, Ceasa supermarkets and buyers during the 15th edition of the fair

The Family Farming Business Roundtable at the AgroPonte Fair met this Thursday, is 13, rural producers, supermarkets and Ceasa licensees looking for new commercial opportunities. Held during the fair, the meeting brings together those who produce and those who buy and creates an environment for presenting products, negotiating and building partnerships.

The round aims to promote business prospecting between family farming producers and companies that sell food. Supermarkets participate, Ceasa wholesalers and licensees, who have direct contact with producers and know the products available in the region.

For the regional manager of Epagri in Criciúma, Edson Borba, The proposal is to expand marketing possibilities for producers. “This initiative consolidates a strategic environment where the exchange of experiences and the closing of commercial agreements occur in an integrated and efficient way”, affirms.

Direct contact facilitates negotiations

For those who buy, Being face to face with the producer facilitates the evaluation of products and allows us to better understand the origin and characteristics of what reaches the consumer. This is the case of Fernando Elias Pereira, buyer of MM Rosso Supermercados.

According to him, proximity helps to meet specific market demands and also strengthens the marketing of regional products. “Direct contact with the producer is fundamental for our sector. This proximity allows us to know the origin and quality of the merchandise without the need for intermediaries., which strengthens our supply chain. In addition to optimizing trading, This link allows us to meet specific demands and meet market needs with fresher and more regional products, benefiting the entire local economy.”

On the other side of the negotiation, the farmer and owner of a cassava flour and cassava flour agribusiness, ANA CLÁUDIA SILVEIRA EMERIM, highlights the agility provided by face-to-face meetings. "For me, the business round is essential for the agility it provides. Face-to-face contact facilitates the establishment of partnerships, eliminating bureaucratic steps and creating immediate recognition on the part of the buyer”, reinforces.

Negotiations continue after the round

Experience from previous editions shows that contacts initiated during the round can turn into effective business. The negotiation does not necessarily end at that moment: producers and buyers remain in contact after the meeting, continuing the negotiations and, in many cases, concluding commercial agreements.

For the director of NossaCasa Fairs and Events, Jacqueline Backes, This is one of the objectives of the initiative. “The round creates an approximation that would hardly happen in the same way. It is an opportunity for producers to present their work directly to buyers and for companies to meet new suppliers in the region”, affirms.

The Business Round is a partnership between AgroPonte, Agricultural Research and Rural Extension Company of Santa Catarina (Epagri), Ceasa and Santa Catarina Integrated Agricultural Development Company (Citizens).

The 15th AgroPonte Fair continues until Sunday, is 16, at the José Ijair Conti Pavilion, in Criciúma.
