Apiário de São Joaquim brings honey and honey-based beers to Feira AgroPonte

For the first time at the AgroPonte Fair, the Altitude Flower Apiary, from São Joaquim, brought to the public a selection of products from Serra Catarinense, with emphasis on honeys and beers produced with the addition of honey. Among the products are three styles of beer: Cologne, APA e Brown Ale, each one made with a different type of honey. One of the options uses bracatinga melate honey, characteristic product of the mountain region.

The apiary is part of the Serra Catarinense Producers stand, and the space brings together different types of honey, among them bracatinga melate honey, pito straw honey, produced in São Joaquim, and beef flower honey. Bracatinga melate honey, which has a Denomination of Origin, It is known as the “black gold of Serra Catarinense” and is one of the products that represents the identity of the region.

According to Breno Abate, member of Apiário Flor de Altitude, Participation in the AgroPonte Fair represents an opportunity to present products to a new audience. “This is the first time we are participating in the fair. For us it is a joy. We had never participated in a fair of this size and we are having a very good experience.”

Beer with honey arose from a desire to diversify

The idea of producing beers with honey came from Breno and his brother's interest in the product and the drink.. As they already worked with honey production, the two looked for a way to combine products and expand the brand's portfolio.

The beer is produced in partnership with the Logemil brewery, by Otacílio Costa. The first batch was launched during the National Apple Festival, in São Joaquim, and the good reception from the public encouraged the continuation of the project.
