AgroPonte brings together cooperatives to align the participation of family farming in the 15th edition of the fair
Family farming is one of AgroPonte’s main fronts and brings together, every year, producers from different regions of Santa Catarina, that bring food to the public, beverages and agro-industrialized products. In addition to strengthening commercialization, the fair also brings farmers closer to new markets and creates business opportunities.
The meeting was led by the director of Nossacasa Feiras e Eventos, Jacqueline Backes, and by the director and creator of AgroPonte, Willi Backes. The regional manager of Epagri also participated, Edson Borba, Epagri veterinarian Marcelo Pedroso, and the Market Manager at Ceasa de Tubarão, Edmilson Moreira, who presented guidance to producers on participation in the fair and actions developed during the event.
Representing the City of Criciúma, the director of Agriculture and Agribusiness, Vanderlei Zilli, highlighted the importance of the fair for the municipality and made the municipal administration structure available to participants. “AgroPonte moves the economy, values agribusiness and strengthens the name of Criciúma. The city hall will be present throughout the fair, at the Amrec stand, with a team prepared to assist and assist with whatever is necessary”, stated.
Para Willi Backes, AgroPonte reaches its 15th consolidated edition thanks to the involvement of everyone who participated in its construction. “AgroPonte grows because there is joint work. Each cooperative, each producer, each partner entity and each exhibitor contributes to making the fair happen. It is this union of efforts that strengthens the event and makes it a reference for agribusiness in Santa Catarina”, highlighted.
Mesa Brasil participates for the third consecutive year
Another announcement made during the meeting was the participation of the Sesc Mesa Brasil program, who will be present at AgroPonte for the third consecutive year. The team will collect food that is not sold by the cooperatives throughout the fair, allocating the products to institutions that serve people in situations of social vulnerability.
According to the program's social worker, Jane, the initiative reinforces the commitment to combating waste and food insecurity. “We are an urban food and harvest bank. We have been operating in the region for two years, based in Forquilhinha, receiving donations from producers, wholesalers and supermarkets to serve social institutions. Our goal is to combat food waste and help fight hunger”, explained.
Family farming is one of the protagonists of AgroPonte
Family farming occupies a prominent space at AgroPonte, bringing together cooperatives and associations that represent thousands of rural properties in the south of Santa Catarina and the Serra. In addition to the exhibition and marketing of products, participants also take part in the traditional Family Farming Business Roundtable, initiative that brings producers together, supermarkets, Ceasa wholesalers and entrepreneurs, expanding marketing opportunities even after the fair closes.
The 15th edition of AgroPonte will be held 12 a 16 of August, at the José Ijair Conti Pavilion, in Criciúma. Consolidated as the largest agribusiness fair in Santa Catarina, AgroPonte brings together family farming, livestock, technology, industry, gastronomy, business and knowledge, in addition to technical and cultural programming aimed at strengthening the sector.
